Aloha take 12 million hehe

We rented a car and drove it to the north shore on Friday...I'm so glad that we did. It is just way more 'native' up there...so calm and laid back and non commercial. The waves the day we were there were about 45 ft....it was honestly one of the most amazing things I've ever seen...but more amazing was the SOUND of the waves crashing...like the loudest thunderstorm I've ever heard. Really breathtaking!!

Ok - I'll spare you all the many pictures I have of my toes...I took a picture of my toes at every different place I was on the island...they are a ton of fun but well...I'm sure you are all 'over' my trip by now!! This last picture is the sunset on Saturday night...right before we left for the airport and endured a 34 hour trip home!!! But that's a whole post in itself and since it took me over a month to get this on here...good luck with that!! hehe

I promise I only have like 12 more ALOHA posts hehe

I have to say that the hellicopter tour that we did was probably the highlight of the trip...it was so amazing to see the island from the air!! The first picture is of diamond head...

This is the USS Arizona from the air (top center of picture) and a war ship docked on the coast.

This is the island where they filmed a lot of gilligan's island...in the little cove that you can barely see on the right of the island.

This is just the coast from the air...the dark brown that you see is coral...it is almost prettier from the air than it is walking around!

Still in Hawaii...

Me at my luxurious hotel...it was really pretty on the outside! hehe

On the dinner cruise which by the way was NOT a waste of time as was told to me by a family member who is nothing but a party!! Oh - that's diamond head in the background.

Rules make me nervous...and I really wanted to do a Titanic thing here - but since I'm not 12 anymore I refrained!!

This homeless man was really living a dream! He had an air mattress - 2 buckets to do his laundry in and anyone that was leaving would give him their magazines and beach towels and mats and lawn chairs...he had a bike that he rented to other homeless people...and just look at that TAN!!

ALOHA...again!!

The view from my hotel room...the view was ok - the room...well that's another story!! It wasn't the cleanest joint in the world...but we weren't there very much so it all worked out!!

I enjoyed this man...he just sat there...all day long every single day. He read that paper for hours...there was not ONE time that I was out on my lanai that he wasn't out on his...he became my new Hawaii friend...cuz friends that don't speak to me are my favorite!!

We went to Duke's on Sunday...because Jimmy Buffet swears it's "the place to be" and apparently he is correct - since we saw George Strait there...and a bunch of golfers that I've never heard of...but one was named Adam Scott - and I remember that cuz that's my nephews name!! hehe

Me on my lanai...cuz well...I'm just fun like that!

And for the pictures everyone has been asking about....

ALOHA!!!! I was in Hawaii for 8 days in January and can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had!!! It's a LOOOOOOONG trip...and by long I mean LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG trip!! We laughed - we giggled - we ate - we walked - and then we laughed and giggled some more!! It was one of the best vacations I've ever been on and although I missed my family back home...it was honestly some of the best times I've ever had!!!

The first few pictures are just random ones from my first day there - long story but I ended up being there alone for about 24 hours...

This one made ME giggle...but most wouldn't have been as amused. This was some man's home...for real. After I got over feeling sorry for the homeless on the island...I figured out that they may be the smartest people I've ever seen...come on...homeless in Hawaii?? I could get used to that!!

The musical Hess'

I hope that in 10 years they both still have the same passion for music that they both have right now...although I'm thinking if Denton wants to play a guitar for real...it shouldn't be pink...just sayin.

Just Denton...

Denton was going for a nap and unlike most 2 year olds...he lays down smiling!!

Sissy's back at school...so...

Cheeto's for BREAKFAST!!! Woot!!

Happy New Year!!!

So I cooked for New Year's Day this year...most said it was good...the dumplings were dry but I didn't make those haha. The kids had fun...but they'd have fun in a box so that wasn't really a concern! Jake and Jenna weren't here but here's a snap of the 4 crazies that were in attendance!! Hope your 2009 is all you hope for!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

My idea this year was to get the kids one BIG gift and then a COUPLE little things...but after the wrapping was done I counted and they both had ONE big gift and 11 small ones...whatever!!
Papa and Gubbie showed up way early to watch the craziness so they didn't miss a thing! Denton's big gift was his Thomas Table and he seems to really like it...which is a miracle because 2 weeks before Christmas he proclaimed that he no longer liked choo choo's...which wouldn't have been a problem had I not bought the table in AUGUST!!! Roni got a trampoline...much to the dismay of almost every adult I know...but there's an enclosure and of course daddy made up all kinds of crazy rules that will go right out the window as soon as he's back at work like all good daddys should be! Roni also got benderoo's because #1 she clearly watches too much tv and #2 mommy clearly doesn't watch enough...had mommy known they were pipe cleaners with a 'kick' she would have never paid that much money for them...let alone the overnight shipping so the little princess had everything on her list.
Hope ya'll had a super great Christmas...I know we did!!!

Christmas Eve at Gubbie and papa's house!!

Gubbie and Papa sure do know how to do Christmas!! The kids got way more than they could ever have hoped for. There were lots of squeals and giggles and maybe a couple tears too...cuz that's what happens when you're young and it's Christmas! They did crafts and opened presents and we all had lasagna...cuz nothing screams Christmas like a big ol dish of Italian food!!
We all got to decorate my mom's 'tradition' tree again this year...although Santa only got ornaments for the kids...typical. Have I ever mentioned that we used to get stockings on Christmas morning?? Yeah. that was till we had kids...no more stockings for us!! I'm waiting for the year Gubbie says "I decided to just get the kids something this year...sorry bout your luck"
hehehe
